I have become a obsessive in my kitchen making these fantastic bars! I am constantly rattling off new recipes in my brain and making them come to life. I initially made them for my son who is obsessed with bars, he would eat a 6 pack a day if I let him. It makes me feel so much better knowing exactly what is in them… so here I am – making protein bars for families!
This lead me to the granola obsession… I always like to find ways to use my sourdough discard and my family loves granola. I now have an addiction to this granola – I am constantly stealing handfuls throughout the day. It is so good and has so many benefits!

Background
When I became a nutrition coach is when I started to read the ingredients of every label. I started to understand the meaning of different ingredients and what was good and bad for our health. It is so important to know what we are putting into our bodies, especially for our littles. That is why I have started to make so many of our household items.
I have done extensive research on the brands I use in our house in order to understand where their food is sourced, certifications from third parties, and protocols they use when processing their food items. I have gone as far as emailing the companies to verify their systems and certifications.
For instance, I have gone through multiple protein powders to find the right one.
- I reached out to all the companies for the CoA’s to ensure they do not have traceable amounts of heavy metals, mold, yeast or salmonella and ensured their protein content was third party tested for accuracy.
- I also ensured all the ingredients are clean – they do not include gums, natural or artificial flavors, or bad oils that you find in most protein powders.
- Lastly, I made sure to research how they sourced their protein and how their cows were treated. It is important to know the cows are free range and grass fed.
Oats and grains are known to have the highest pesticide content. That is why it is SO important to have organic, glyphosate tested oats and grains. This is one I am very picky about. Organic products have still been shown to have traces of glyphosate in them, so it is important that your organic oats and grains are also certified glyphosate free.
This is why I started making my own bars and granola, so I know every ingredient being used. I use organic, glyphosate free oats and brown rice crispies, clean protein powder that has been third party tested and is sourced from grass fed cows, and mostly organic ingredients, when it makes sense. Homemade bars and granola is now a staple in our household and my family loves being the taste testers! It is cool to make something that people can trust to feed themselves and their families!!
